Ongoing “House” investigation.

Date: 5-12-06 9pm-12:30am      

Location: Private residence. West Chester, PA. 19382

Investigators: Carol, Mark, Kim and Kat.

Purpose/Objective:

To investigate the alternate methods used during paranormal investigations. I.E. strobe light photography, video feedback loops, necromatrix (white noise generator), pendulum scrying.

Theory:

There are consistent reports of a “red shirted” dark skinned man seen roaming the hallway of the upstairs, it has also been seen in the master bedroom. The apparition of a little girl has been seen. Within the past few days an older woman was seen standing at the end of the bed in the master bedroom and a female voice was heard on separate occasions.

Procedure:

Kat and Kim will investigate the first floor while the white noise generator is being used in the TV room at the front of the house. They will use hand held EMF meters, digital still camera and a Hi8 video camera. Mark and Carol will investigate and conduct EVP experiments in the back bedroom/office and outer hallway. They will use a aural enhancing listening device that is tied into a digital voice recorder, Trifield meter, ELF meter and EMF meter, miniDV camcorder and a digi still camera. They will then move into the outer hallway and experiment with the use of a strobe light with a red filter. The Theory of using a strobe light in an investigation is that it can give a sense of a “frozen in time” sensation and can assist in capturing the images of paranormal activity. The team will rejoin and proceed to the next phase of the investigation. We will use the Sony Digi8 camcorder to create a feedback loop into a television, the theory is that ghostly images can be captured while doing this. The white noise generator will continue to operate during this time. Kat will then lead us through an experiment with “Scrying”: the use of a pendulum. We will attempt to make contact with the spirits in the house and observe and collect any evidence If possible.

Observations:

The investigation began with Carol, Kat, Kim and myself on the first floor in the TV room. I had set up the Digi8 video camera on the tripod and tested the video feedback that would be used later in the investigation. I then connected the laptop to the stereo in the TV room and connected to the website: www.necromatrix.com (a website that is a white noise generator that claims to be a portal for connecting to the spirit world) The audio from the website was played back continuously through the stereo during the course of the investigation at a moderate volume level. I then gave the assignment of taking base readings on the first floor. Carol began reading very high EMF levels at floor level. I assigned Kat and Kim to investigate it further and check the basement for readings that would correspond to the reading on the first floor at floor level. Kim and Kat determined that the high levels were a result of electrical boxes that were attached to the joices in the basement ceiling. I then assigned Kat and Kim to continue to investigate the first floor while Carol and I proceeded to go upstairs and investigate the back bedroom/office and conduct an EVP experiment and then investigate the hallway while experimenting with the use of a strobe light with a red filter. Carol and I set up in the back bedroom/office with a miniDV camcorder, digi still camera, Audio listening device w/digital recorder, ELF zone meter, EMF Ghost meter, Ramsey trifield meter and remote temperature gauge. Immediately I began having problems with the battery of the camcorder and had to retrieve the AC adaptor for the camera. I started the camcorder, addressed the tape and began recording audio with the listening device.  Over the course of the EVP experiment several voices were heard along with Carol reporting hearing music coming from within the room.  I was unable to determine the source of the music and voices heard at the time and the analysis of the audio recording has yet to be completed (5-16-06). The video footage from the experiment has been reviewed and nothing conclusive has been discovered. I began asking questions aloud in an attempt to make contact with something that may be present in the house. The line of questioning was informal but included: “Is there anyone here who would like to speak to us tonight?” I encouraged it to make a sound by scratching or knocking on the walls, ceilings or floor. It wasn’t until near the end of our time in the room did we hear the heavy sounds of footsteps coming down the hallway and stopping outside of the closed door of the room that we were in. I made radio contact with Kim and Kat downstairs to make sure that neither of them had just come up the stairs and that none of the cats or dog that is in the house came up the stairs. The sounds that came from outside of the room were of a heavy nature and at the time we concluded was to be too loud or heavy for an animal to have made. The video did capture the sound, but it was not as loud as it seemed to be at the time the activity happened.

Carol and I completed our time in the office/bedroom and moved our investigation to the outer hallway. I set the strobe light to a moderate speed and sat in the doorway that led into the room that we just finished and began recording with the video camera. Carol was positioned at the other end of the hallway, just outside the master bedroom. I encouraged her to take photographs while she took readings with her EMF “Ghost Meter”. She started to detect a high field at about 3-4 ft from the ground at near point blank range at the wall near the doorway of the middle bedroom. It was determined that the cause of the field was in fact due to a wireless internet router and modem that were on and sitting on a desk directly on the other side of the wall.  Carol also began picking up higher readings with the EMF meter in front of and around the mirror that was on the wall of the hallway on the other side of the doorway of the middle bedroom. She had some interesting results from the photos that were taken during this part of the investigation. I did not want to spend an extended period of time with the strobe light in the hallway. The investigation that night was meant to be a means to explore some alternate methods used that CCPRS does not normally use during the course of an investigation in the field.  Carol and I completed our time upstairs and joined Kat and Kim downstairs and began the next phase of the investigation.

Research Study #1: The Pendulum, Video feedback and white noise generator

I set the camcorder and TV so that the camera would feedback into the TV while recording. The effect causes various types of light anomalies and in the application of paranormal research is supposed to be a means for collecting paranormal images and opening a portal during a séance or other activity where direct contact is attempted to be made with a spirit/energy. (including EVP experiments). I also used an ELF zone meter and attached it to a camera tripod, set it vertically and at a height of about 4 feet from the floor. I set the meter in the middle of the doorway that connected the TV room and library. I wanted to use it as a means of tracking possible anomalous fields that may pass through the room during our Pendulum experiments.  I wired Kat with a lavalier microphone that was connected to the digital voice recorder and set to record. I had the Olympus digital camera nearby, set the Geiger counter set to read at x.10 reading and placed it on the floor near the table where we were conducting the Pendulum experiments. I also placed the ramsey trifield meter on the floor under the table where the experiment was taking place. A digital thermometer was placed in the area so that I could monitor it during the course of the experiment. Kat instructed us on the means by which we would use the pendulum and make “contact” with a spirit.

Discussion:

Several of us has subjective experiences during the course of the nights investigation and pendulum experiments. (further details in pendulum findings report) The case will remain open and we will continue to collect information as a result of our investigations and research experiments.

Conclusion:

We had some very interesting results with the Pendulum, although it is worth notating the equipment set up in the room detected very little during the course of this experiment. The ELF meter that was stationed at the perimeter of the room did have spikes (3-7 mg) during the experiments and at times coincided with our invitation for a “spirit” to enter the room.

          The house was built in the 1860's and the background and history of the previous owners and tenants are still being investigated.

Protocols for setting up and taking base readings:

          A grid/map was made as a floor plan of the house on each floor. The grid/map was used in notating the location of appliances, electrical outlets, light switches, furniture, windows, doorways and stairways. Base readings were taken with EMF detectors, ELF detectors, Geiger counter and digital thermometer. Any artificial field was notated on the map with readings that were measured. The fields  were notated and measured for areas affected.
