Ongoing “House” investigation.

Date: 5-12-06 9pm-12:30am      

Location: 121 S. Darlington St. West Chester, PA. 19382

Investigators: Carol, Mark, Kim and Kat.

Purpose/Objective:

 To investigate during a paranormal investigation using alternative methods. I.E. strobe light photography, video feedback loops, necromatrix (white noise generator), pendulum scrying.

Theory:

There are consistent reports of a “red shirted” dark skinned man seen roaming the hallway of the upstairs, it has also been seen in the master bedroom. The apparition of a little girl has been seen. Within the past few days an older woman was seen standing at the end of the bed in the master bedroom and a female voice was heard on separate occasions. When the woman was seen she appeared to be wearing a black Victorian dress.  She also appeared to be tiny in stature.  The man has also been seen in the bathroom, and mostly in the hallway near the bathroom.  The light switch in the hallway has turned on and off on its own.  The light outside has turned on and off by itself.  Bulbs were recently changed in the hallway and an old bulb lit back up again. Mark has actually chased a shadow into the bathroom.

Equipment:

Procedure:

Kat and Kim will investigate the first floor while the white noise generator is being used in the TV room at the front of the house. They will use hand held EMF meters, digital still camera and a Hi8 video camera. Mark and Carol will investigate and conduct EVP experiments in the back bedroom/office and outer hallway. They will use a aural enhancing listening device that is tied into a digital voice recorder, Trifield meter, ELF meter and EMF meter, miniDV camcorder and a digi still camera. They will then move into the outer hallway and experiment with the use of a strobe light with a red filter. The Theory of using a strobe light in an investigation is that it can give a sense of a “frozen in time” sensation and can assist in capturing the images of paranormal activity. The team will rejoin and proceed to the next phase of the investigation. We will use the Sony Digi8 camcorder to create a feedback loop into a television; the theory is that ghostly images can be captured while doing this. The white noise generator will continue to operate during this time. Kat will then lead us through an experiment with “Scrying”: the use of a pendulum. We will attempt to make contact with the spirits in the house and observe and collect any evidence If possible.

Observations:

There were spikes in Kim’s Ghost Meter and in the Gauss Meter that I held around the black chair in the “library.” During the work with the pendulum there was a glow coming from the dining room that emitted a yellow to golden color.  There was a knocking sound on the dining room table and a cup fell in the kitchen (possibly a cat).  When I asked about getting a waft of perfume a definite flowery scent filled the room and we all noticed the smell immediately. While doing the pendulum work there were some letters which we were unsure of due to the way the pendulum was swinging.  We asked definitive questions, “you were born in 1857” yes “were you born in Turkey” yes.  It seemed when the woman started to answer that the pendulum swung stronger and faster.  During the questions I kept wondering how much of the information that we were getting was real and credible.  One of the meters spiked in the library during the questions, but it was brief.  There were no temperature changes recorded, yet we all felt cold.  The noise from the feedback loop was a bit grating, but sometimes it honestly sounded like heavy breathing and a sigh. We asked him to enter the room if we turned off the noise and the cameras, but no apparition appeared in the room, nor was there a temperature change.

Discussion:

 I had asked during the pendulum work if his favorite shirt is red plaid.  This may have been a leading question, but I was curious about the answer, we did get a “yes.”  We also asked about the little girl and he said that he has seen her, but she did not come through.  The woman came through incredibly strong with an interesting message for Mark “Stay in the band.”  This I find interesting since Mark has been having some issues regarding his band lately. There was a spike in the meter during the questioning.  When asked to make the meters go off, they did not go off.  When asked to enter the room, they did not. 

Conclusion:

 Research needs to be done on Turkish names and Mark needs to ask about the name of his Great grandmother.  The math seems to be off, unless she had the baby when she was 57 years old.  Otherwise maybe it is a great great grandmother.  More pendulum work should be done along with EVPs to discover more information.  More alternative methods of gathering information could be used such as table tipping or automatic writing to find out more details.

Side Note:   "Pendulum Scrying works because your brain sends subconsious movements to your fingers so don't worry if your hand is moving and you did not tell it to. Once someone was pendulum scrying with a crystal and it flew off to the other side of the room, but this is unlikely to happen as this was an exceptional result. You are likely only to see small movements, but these will speak truths."

          The house was built in the 1860's and the background and history of the previous owners and tenants are still being investigated.

Protocols for setting up and taking base readings:

          A grid/map was made as a floor plan of the house on each floor. The grid/map was used in notating the location of appliances, electrical outlets, light switches, furniture, windows, doorways and stairways. Base readings were taken with EMF detectors, ELF detectors, Geiger counter and digital thermometer. Any artificial field was notated on the map with readings that were measured. The fields  were notated and measured for areas affected. 

Equipment used during the investigation:

1 Cell Sensor EMF detector. 2 ELF Zone meters. 1 V-717 Geiger Counter. 1 digital thermometer w/external probe. 1 Sony nightshot Digi camcorder. 1 Sony 5.0 mega pixel night shot still camera, 1 laptop computer, 1 EV RE20 condenser microphone.
